PC12-Plus, Lyd&Bilde
Rocket Bass
With a 12” down firing driver, three man sized ports pointing upwards and an amplifier delivering 525 forceful watts, this cylinder shaped subwoofer pounds hard enough to make your pants flap.
It is not delightful to look at, and even though the cylinder shape means it occupies less floor space, it is all but discrete. It is not sure neither you nor your spouse will want this is your living room.
But you should know what experiences you will be missing out on. Contrary to what we first believed, it is agile enough to do a good job with music in stereo, even when we are talking of complex jazz rhythms, music from a large orchestra or brutal rhythms from pop, hip hop or rock. It should be crossed in fairly low, 80Hz or lower, because a large bass driver doesn’t work to well in the upper frequencies. Most loudspeakers can handle this crossover frequency with ease.
The result after placing it optimally (it enjoys being placed in a corner) is a hard pounding, but detailed bass response that is extremely impressive to find in this price range. We hardly know of any similarly priced subwoofer that hits harder and delves deeper, and that at the same time has this level of integration with the main speakers.
If you can handle the looks of this beast, buy one. I think I may have one, I will just have to first court the favor of my better half…..
